October 17th is just the best day of the year. Really, its too bad you all couldn't have been born on this day. The leaves have started to fall, the air is cool, and pumpkins are popping up on everyone's front porch steps...and its my birthday. AND lucky for me, my husband understands my deep-rooted NEED for a good, sweep me off my feet surprise. And this year topped them all.

The day started with this
And ended with this:A few weeks ago (okay, maybe more like a few months ago), I casually mentioned that the perfect birthday date would be an entire evening at Lagoon without the kids. I know that sounds like a request that should be coming from a twelve year old, but I have a slight obsession with ROLLER COASTERS; the thrill, the anticipation of that first big fall, and knowing that if you're willing to wait, you can do it all over again.

So David's mom came to babysit and I started getting ready, thinking that we were headed for Lagoon. Then David came in and said "So, I'm taking you shopping." Shopping? My disappointment must have been pretty obvious and he got really offended, telling me that I'm hard to please and this is why he doesn't like surprises. I felt horrible! I couldn't believe we were arguing on my precious birthday and I felt even worse that he thought I was ungrateful.

So I tried my hardest to be very excited about shopping (tends to be more stressful than fun for me). We went to dinner and then headed to Salt Lake and THEN, mumbling something about needing gas, he pulled off at the Lagoon exit. To say that I was SURPRISED AND EXCITED would be an understatement.

An entire night of roller coasters, no kids, and laughing til my stomach hurt and my throat was sore with a very cute boy by my side--what more could I ask for? Oh yeah, and then we went to Coldstone's on the way home. It was perfect.

27. geesh.
