Happy Halloween

The past few days have been so much fun. I really do love Halloween. On Thursday, we met at my friend Eva's for Joy School where we had a very creative Halloween party. They did crafts, ate spooky food and played some awesome Halloween games.

On Friday, we went to the Treehouse's "Enchanted Woods" where the girls went on a hunt for the "Golden Rose" and got treats along the way. Charlotte was a little too young for the performances and didn't understand the "keep your treat in your bag" rule, but we survived.

Right before we walked in, Hazel had a mini meltdown and took a minute to calm down.

We got a better belly shot that night too. Ellie is getting so big! I have five weeks to go...

And on Saturday, we had games and dinner at our house with David's parents and some friends of ours--Andrea and Emmy Bell and our awesome neighbors, the Taylor's.
(The Taylor's came later, so these first pics are just with the Bell's)

My mother-in-law brought some GREAT Halloween games like blowing spiders, a Halloween memory game, Monster Freeze, and a pumpkin card game where each card tells you something to do like "make a scary face." So fun.

Once the Taylor's arrived, we played Wrap the Mummy, which was my favorite game of the night. We paired up and had to race to wrap our partner in toilet paper. It was hilarious to see how the kids thought to wrap their adult (like my daughter, who went for the face first).

And then it was time to trick-or-treat in the rain!

This year we were all bugs, but David--who was a flower. And before you think I'm too terrible of a wife to make him dress up as a flower, you have to know that he chose that same costume to be funny when we were engaged and actually painted his legs green (I couldn't get him to do that again this year). So I knew he had it in him already.
He got the most compliments out of all of us.

6 weeks to go! I apologize for the lack of enthusiasm in this picture, but I was in a bad mood. Not sure why. Being this huge can be tiring sometimes, okay?

The pumpkin patch

Isn't Halloween/Fall so much fun? In our little Joy School group, we went on a field trip to a nearby pumpkin patch for a hay ride, games, feeding animals and picking our very own pumpkin. Lucky for me, my mom and brother were in town and were great help (and fun).

These pics were taken just before my mom tried to give Bradley and Charlotte a good push and nearly shoved them off the swing. They were both holding onto that whale (or dolphin?) for dear life.

Funny story about that little "piggy ride" where both girls are sitting together: They went in a large circle through some trees and when they came back our way, Charlotte had disappeared. We all looked more closely and noticed a little pigtail sticking out from the bottom of the bucket; she had slid down the seat and was sitting contentedly at Hazel's feet. So funny.

Charlotte's first experience with a see-saw. Can you tell that her eyes are squeezed tightly shut?

My birthday...

So I'll admit that I am a super high-maintenance birthday girl. My sweet husband starts to feel the pressure around late summer, BUT somehow he always pulls it off and makes me so completely happy. I shouldn't brag--because he really did spoil me BIG TIME--but I must list the highlights (He started on Wednesday and continued until Saturday). Vietnamese food, frozen yogurt, the most delicious fish ever at Jasoh's, a movie, a massage, and fresh crab at Christophers in a new (maternity) dress. Oh and Sherlock Holmes on BluRay, some cute clothes at Old Navy, and a four hour tutoring session with a great photographer here in Utah. WOW! Thanks babe for a fabulous birthday.

I'm 28! Agh!

We went to our niece's baptism in Idaho on the 9th and had a great time!
Congrats to sweet Kennedy on her baptism.
Isn't she beautiful?

Happy happy birthday

October 8th--what a great day. My handsome husband turned 27 this year. I LOVE celebrating his birthday all week. This year we went out to Tucanos with some of our best friends, the Clark's, since three of us have birthdays in October. Then we ate out AGAIN (on the actual birth date) at a not-so-fantastic Thai restaurant with the Clark's and the Mueller's. David's mom took the girls so we could celebrate with a movie and kid-free night at the Marriott. It was wonderful! The only downside was that we had to take off early the next morning to drive to Idaho for our niece's baptism. (We got a wake-up call at 8am. Ouch).

500 Days of Summer and comfy slippers...what more could you want on your birthday?

And a collage of the girls to top it off.

When I asked Hazel what kind of cake we should get for Dad, she told me a "good guy cake." I asked her what that looked like and she said, "Well, a good guy has hair and legs and arms and he's holding a Barbie coloring book. And he has shoes on because he's going to the library." So, I did the best I could and found a Captain Moroni at the church bookstore.

Happy Birthday to my husband. I love love love you.

Washable

I always avoid paints for as long as I can...but eventually you have to give in. And tempera paint really is washable, thank goodness. I did get two amazingly cute little hand prints out of all this.

And this little girl is washable as well. What a blessing.

Spooky House

For family night we made a "spooky house" while we watched Under the Sea with Hazel. I hate to admit that we put Charlotte to bed for the entire event, but we couldn't put all the candy at risk. Hazel LOVED this activity as well as having mom and dad all to herself. We had a great time and Charlotte has only found the spooky house twice, eating half the picket fence. It's still standing.
