Induction to Kindergarten

Before we found out that Hazel was accepted at O.P.A, we took her to the "Back to School" night at Polk Elementary. We got dressed up and took some fun photos before we left:

Already a Kindergartner. Next is marriage.

Check this out.

Really wish I could keep this one three forever. Might go back to two if I had a choice.
I love this shot. I hadn't asked them to sit there together or pose for me. I just sneaked up on them as they sat there together, picking flowers and chatting.

Eloise with her Daddy.
So, we weren't so impressed with that school. I'm thinking that our expectations were really high, but we did feel a bit over-dressed after seeing the crowd that was there that night.
Afterwards, we went for a walk and enjoyed the rest of the evening outside.

Three little birds

Here are some of my favorite instagrams from this week. Ellie has been perfecting her "mad face." (I still think Charlotte's got her beat.)

Poor Edison has been officially inducted into this family of little women.
My girls bring me flowers all the time. It is one of my favorite things about being a mother.
Three little birds. I love how they always stick together.
So far Rapunzel (our last full grown hen) is being nice enough to these little ones.
David was doing some work on the backyard this evening so the rest of us kept him good company.
A man that looks that good in Carhartts should have a couple cute women surrounding him.
Probably my favorite picture of our sweet Hazel Jayne right now. Sometimes she'll wake up from a nap with that dreamy, freshly awake look and David and I will just shake our heads and cross our fingers that we don't have too hard of a time when this one grows up.
We think she's absolutely beautiful.

I'm amazed at how good she is with these chickens. Not only can she hypnotize them like a pro, but she handles them very gently and they don't seem to mind when she picks them up.

Love that silhouette, love that finger.
Go ahead chicken, take a little nap.
Poor Charlotte has such a difficult time catching these quick little ones, but she's so determined that she runs all over the backyard until she gets what she wants. Then she returns to her sweet little self, but keeps a tight, unrelenting grip.
Her pretty golden hair.
Happy happy day.

Boom, hypnotized. Like it ain't no thing.
Poor chicken never stood a chance.

Because Eloise will almost never smile for me, I have to ask her instead to show me some tricks.
This is her fishy face.
Peek-a-boo.
(Or as I'm trying to teach her, "Beep Boo." I don't know why, she just sounds cute when she says it. Makes David mad!)

Love, love, love being a mother of girls.

A lovely Sunday afternoon

So I finally attended one of Camille Garrison's Photography Workshops and learned a LOT about my camera, that I've had for over a year! I learned a ton of new tips to get that beautiful blur in the background of my photos and how to use the light outside to my advantage and find a perfect balance with my aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Seriously, this workshop is worth the price.

On Sunday, I put my skills to the test on my cutest subjects. The sun was close to setting and we were up in the valley with beautiful colors in the background. And my girls were eating cupcakes...

This face kills me. So much sass in a little body.
Our little "poser."

And the Loo. Love that this one still has that "yellow golden hair," as she calls it.

Good lookin' man.

I love Edison's hand in this picture. And the tie, of course.

I seriously have the greatest mother-in-law I could have ever asked for. Lucky me.

I love the green in the background of this photo. And the fact that Hazel is feeding the cupcake to her!

So if you haven't noticed, Eloise does not smile for me. She is the master of the stinker face, the serious and contemplative face, and the "won't you just let me eat my cupcake in peace?" face.

I was taking a picture of Lottie's flowers when she discovered a tiny spider in her hair.

Whoops! Time to change subjects.

Check out that smooth creamy blur! Thanks Camille!
The End.
