I've looked forward to this birthday party for a while now. There's just something special about a 1st birthday. And we have had such a great first year with our little Eloise.
I printed my favorite baby picture of Ellie and tied it to the invitation with her most current photo.
We invited close friends and family for a nice evening together, celebrating this little girl.

I decorated with blues, greens and yellows which brought a little bit of spring into this December birthday party!

I scored these heart-shaped vases at the thrift store for $1 a piece.
(Same with the frames!)

Since our theme was "One Year of Loving Eloise," I made heart-topped cupcakes and a heart-shaped cake for the little one.

My mom found this awesome cupcake pan at IKEA that made my cupcakes tall and skinny. Love it.
This was a sad excuse for a cake topper, but it was a last minute invention and it did the trick. Hazel helped me carefully place each blue M&M.

This is my absolute favorite soup! I had big plans of making my own soup for this party, but I ended up having too much on my "to-do" list to pull it off. I sent my wonderful husband to pick up this amazing meal in a nice little bag from Olive Garden with bread sticks. No shame here!

Some of our best friends from Sugar House drove all the way up for the party. Love them.

Marjorie kept asking me how I made that wonderful soup and finally, I told her the truth.

She carefully picked off a few M&M's and then signed "All done!"
She still got some of that frosting on her face.

She got some great presents from family and friends, including these little animals that she LOVES (thanks, Law family).

Afterwards we watched a video I put together of her first year.

And I found myself digging into that cake the next day...I have such a weak spot for yellow cake.

looks like you are blogging as much as I am lately! I can't believe she is one already and you have already had a brother for her! You are super-woman Janelle! and Super-man Dave.
Miss you guys!
