i picked a winner

So there's this little bit of news that I've been meaning to write about for a while now...David decided a few months ago to run for a seat in the Ogden city council. It was shortly after this decision that he also re-applied for school to finish his degree at BYU in business. He's worked harder than I have ever seen him work, trying to balance all of these responsibilities (and a family). Yesterday was the primary election, where two candidates were chosen out of seven to go on to the general election and...

HE WON! Check this out:

It's pretty small, but his biggest competitor, Bart Blair, is only 15 votes behind him. We figured that if we won, he'd be our competitor and obviously we have a lot of work ahead of us to make sure we pull ahead enough for a win in the general election. That will take place on November 3rd.

A BIG thank you to our campaign committee, friends, family, and neighbors who have supported David and helped us achieve this. Congrats to my amazing husband. I'm SO proud of him.

On to the general election!

This is the best news! I've been thinking about you and anticipating the big voting day ever since I talked to you a few weeks ago...I'm so excited for both of you with this win! I knew he would win the primaries! Good luck with the rest of campaigning...he'll do great!

Janelle, I was in Ogden a few weeks ago and saw a campaign sign with David's name on it and I thought, Hmmm, could that be the same David Phipps that I know? And now I know that it is! Congrats! You are quite an amazing couple!

Dang Janelle, how come I haven't been reading your blog all along? Kids are cute, you still look in love and you are like supermom!!! Derek and I started training to train for a marathon...when you are our age there is prep work to be done!!! I am afraid, but I don't want to hold him back so I am trying to be a good sport. I'll need to stay in touch to see how you do. We are still looking for a marathon...most are on Sunday, so we are trying to find a Saturday marathon in some FLAT state :) Have you settled on Vegas?

Yay! That's awesome! I guess we should stop telling everyone about his stinky feet and Sound of Music fetish.

(I made up the part about the stinky feet. . .)
