We invited some friends over for a family night where we talked about Lehi's dream. I tried to think of the best way to teach this part of the Book of Mormon to little three year old girls and came up with a plan involving lots of string and marshmellows...

We explained the dream to the girls using my childhood illustrated Book of Mormon Stories.
Then Natalie played "Hold to the Rod" while we followed our string "iron rod" into the living room and to our (small) tree of life.

I had to use toothpicks to keep our "precious fruit" from falling off the tree. The girls loved partaking of their final prize.

very cute! I think I am going to have to copy this!!
Love your ideas! We did the same lesson but I held broom sticks while they walked along blind folded- we'll just say it was less effective :) So I've been feeling like I needed to post pictures from this summer but I'm lazy and feeling like I don't want to be productive- too bad I can't just copy and paste yours ;) Oh well, someday...
(I see your belly!!!)
Very cute idea with the tree of life. I think my girls would enjoy that activity!
Great idea! We did a similar thing at my family reunion this summer. Marshmallows do work great for this object lesson, that's for sure! We did a similar thing with just us one time with seran wrap instead of string, but that was just because Lily decided to pull out all the seran wrap and run down the hall with it so I figured I could reuse it for fhe that night. You are such a good little mom. Can you raise my kids too? I miss you and wish we were neighbors right now. Oh, and I need to send you some ding dongs or ho-hos to fatten you up. You're looking way too trim.
