A Puppy Party

I can't believe this girl is two. I've had a lot of fun planning this party and finding cute ideas on pinterest (sometimes it is such a blessing). I also found a local cake "artist" that does such a great job. Her company is called Cakes by Janelle and she is very affordable and talented. I've always made my own cakes and cupcakes, but this time I decided to try something new and...easier!
I sent Janelle some pictures of puppy cake pops that I liked and she did an amazing job! I put all of them in a dog dish I found at Walmart with Coco Puff cereal poured around them like puppy chow.
And that was her cake.
All day she kept telling us (because we kept telling her) "Today is my birthday. I two."

I found these funny ideas for snacks... Vicki made the "chew sticks" for me which were pretzels wrapped in caramel and dipped in chocolate with toppings. So good

Eloise kept eyeing the dog bones, so I finally let her have one. And all she did was lick off the frosting, like a true puppy.

My favorite.

Willow was our guest of honor, being that she was the only true canine at this puppy party.

For games, we had the two year olds put on these puppy headbands and they went to training school. The older kids were the trainers and they gave out Skittles to their puppies when they did what they asked such as, "Sit! Roll over! Attack Savannah!"

Then we played "Willow Says." (Simon was probably not a dog).
Opening presents was a little overwhelming for all of us since the other kids wanted her to open them as quickly as possible with lots of help. She kept retreating to Papa Kevin for help.
(I was so excited that I found her a puppy snow globe; she always sneaks onto Hazel's vanity and stares at her santa snow globe.)

Hazel gave her a special present that was a barking dog that she got from her cousin Kate. That was a great sacrifice on her part--those make the best gifts!
When it was time for the puppy pops, she ate off the eyes and ears and face and then took a big bite.
Happy Two, sweet Eloise.

December Recovery

My sweet husband drove straight home from Mesa with only a little bit of help from me. Charlotte threw up in the car twice, either from the flu or her coughing (we weren't sure at this point!) and everyone was coughing. We crashed until late Saturday morning and then went immediately to an InstaCare for medicine. Turns out that everyone but Hazel, David and I had double ear infections. Whatever virus we got at the beginning of December was a real doozy and hit us hard. Even David was feeling sick again, so we got him some medication as well.
But all of this sickness didn't stop us from getting our Christmas tree!

That is celery that he is waving around.

"Z" is for Zebra!

We've started teaching Eloise how to ride her tricycle. Her legs are just a little small still, but she tries.
We also did some "zany mazes" made out of popcicles sticks. This was definitely a favorite of mine.
I didn't have to go far to find an artist that could design Eloise's birthday invitations.
Hazel did a great job!

On the other side I cut out a bone to hold the details of the party. I do love planning these parties for my girls.

Just so everyone knows, I spotted Santa Claus helping at DI.
Coloring, coloring, coloring.
Edison was helping Dad and the girls rake leaves.
I'm so grateful that we're all finally healthy! It was with great hesitation that we went public again, but it felt good to get out.
This was one of those sweet moments in the midst of chaos...I was cooking dinner and the house was a mess, but Hazel was practicing her violin right next to me and Eloise was reorganizing magnets in her bare feet. I do love it when my kids surround me. They are so special.

He's entered that stage of baby where he wears what he eats.

I love my house at Christmas time. This year we opened our electric train that Kevin and Vicki gave to us and it's so fun! It travels round and round the tree in the evenings with a calming hum. I love it.

Making our Gingerbreadhouse

On December 3rd, for Family Night we decorated a ginger bread house and watched a Charlie Brown Christmas.

And little hungry fingers kept trying to adjust the "snow" on the house. I love David's face in the background.
