Halloween Night

Happy Halloween! Here's what we were up to on this awesome sweet-filled Holiday...

An early start on pies...I'm love sweet potato pie these days. Yum.
 
And a scary breakfast on Monday morning! We had green scrambled eggs (monster brains or something like that...), green protein shake (monster blood?), and Halloween donuts with some banana bread on the side. Can you tell I LOVE breakfast?
Everyone received some fun treats on their plate to play with...






After breakfast we headed over to Joy School where the kids marched in a parade to show off their costumes. The smaller siblings got to show off their costumes as well.ff  That evening we dressed up in our African attire. I was wearing some "hot pants" that David brought home from his mission for his future wifey. Luckily they fit me! He was also wearing native attire from his mission in Mozambique. And the girls were African animals because there's something so very fun about dressing your kids up as animals!





We played a quick game before we went trick-or-treating where the girls had to throw candy corns into tiny pumpkins. Then we headed off to go trick-or-treating and collect LOTS of candy for mom to snack on for weeks to come...The lady leopard

Every year our neighbor across the street dresses up as a super tall skeleton and it usually scares Hazel for about five months ("Remember that skeleton we saw...?") So this year he loped over to the front of our house and greeted her gently and took a picture. She's even holding his skeleton hand. We went to the very end of our ward's Trunk or Treat and then spent the rest of the early evening going around our own neighborhood. I can't get enough of this video with our little elephant running down the sidewalk. Reminds me of last year's video where she had a big saggy ladybug bottom that swished side to side when she walked. Like I said, there's a reason most kids' Halloween costumes are animals.


Little Eloise is still the EASIEST baby we've had so far (does that mean she'll be a terror next year?She literally sat just like this the entire night with her little painted nose.

Charlotte knew how to say "Trick or Treat" loud and clear this year and used it to her advantage.
Hazel's favorite thing was the great decorations out on our neighbors lawn.   Our last stop was our dear "Grandma Norma" who lives across the street. We've adopted her into our family since she lives so close and loves to spoil my girls.

Happy Halloween!

October Outings

I've been wanting to take the girls to our local Dinosaur Museum and we finally made it on Oct 28th, which happened to be the coldest day this fall yet. We froze! Unfortunately, the best part of the park in outside, so the girls were allowed to go outside in short spurts.

 

 
 

 

I forgot my coat as well as Eloise's but at least she had Hazel's blanket.
Seriously, freezing. But fun, nonetheless.


Next, on the 29th, we went to Black Island Farms with some friends and had a great time!  We went with the Garrison's as well as a couple from Hazel's Joy School group.

October

October 21-25th

I love the month of October for several reasons, but one of them is the weather! We were able to get out and do so many fun things this month and here's just a few:

(Oct 21st)

The park! My girls are obsessed with swings and whenever I have the energy to push them for about half an hour, we head out to the park and enjoy the fresh air.

This is Charlotte learning how to use Instagram.

We went on a Bat Hunt in our dark bathroom with glow-in-the-dark bats!
Each bat had a word that fit into a fun saying for them to figure out...   

  (Oct 22nd) Then we went to our first Halloween party with our good friends (and past neighbors), the Taylor's.

I found this elephant costume at a local "Kid to Kid" and the size was 12-18 months, but it was too cute and perfect for Charlotte to resist! So I cut out the bottoms of the feet and we made it work. A little high-watered, but very cute.    
Eloise (a monkey) was mostly just interested in the Taylor's dogs in the yard.

I couldn't get enough of her tail.

 (Oct 24th)And making our annual spooky house...   (Oct 25th)  More outside time!

We managed to squeeze in some family Twister as well! Playing this with Hazel makes me laugh every time because she is so similar to her father. She will contort herself into any position necessary to win the game!   Happy October!
